Wheel 1.5: Off the Mound - Thurs PM

Service Description

In this specialized course, instructor Lauren Pedersen will teach students how to throw off the mound - a technique of throwing several smaller vessels from one large piece of clay. The projects in this class will be largely inspired by Japanese pottery sets and students will complete one 6-piece sake set and one 4-piece tea set. Students will combine their new skills in throwing off the mound with some technical assembly to complete the sets. Prerequisite: Students must complete Wheel 1 at Cass Ceramics before taking this class. Class meets once per week for 6 weeks and includes all equipment, materials & firing for pieces made in class, as well as free access to open studio hours (Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sundays 10am-4pm). Please note, we do not offer make up classes. Students are encouraged to take advantage of open studio hours to make up any missed classes with some independent practice. Private lessons are also available to currently enrolled students at a discounted rate. NOTE: There will be no class on July 4th. This session will last 7 weeks but class will still meet 6 times.
